The proprietor took the business off the hands of a friend and wanted to freshen the look up. <span class="caps">WD</span> would begin business with a well established client base, but felt that in order to grow the business they needed something that would set them apart in the West Texas Taxidermy&#160;space. </p> 375 376 <p><span class="caps">WD</span> wanted something that was youthful and that would break all the typical molds and cliche&#8217;s of hunting. Yet they knew that they needed to have a symbol that was instantly recognizable to hunters. We stuck with the dear but as we took a survey of the competitive landscape in the Panhandle of Texas we found that it wouldn&#8217;t take much to this dear stand out from the crowd in its shape and&#160;form. </p> 377 378 <p>But where this logo begins to work its breakaway magic is in the color set. We used brown, orange, and a desaturated cyan to give it a fresh, youthful feel that the client was after. Wildlife Design is only just beginning its walk with a new face and a new suit. I cranked out design work for the Marketing Department for a year before launching out and working full time on <span class="caps">DPD</span>. Working for the largest newspaper in Austin solidified my skills with color, typography, pre-press, color and all the other technical elements that are required for making a successful project jump from the computer to a final printed product. In the marketing department we worked on much more than what you might hold in your hand on a Sunday morning. We did large scale trade show graphics, vehicle wraps, billboards, flash and html elements for the web, identity kits for new and upcoming products, posters, and the list goes on. I was on the team that pushed the products and services that the Austin American Statesman provided to Austin out the door and help generate revenue for the company.
